I Heart Running??

For those of you who know me I despise running.

despise it.

I know a lot of people say that but honestly I have good solid reasons.

1) God graciously blessed me up north. (for lack of better words, I have some larger sisters and finding a sports bra to support these babies is tough (and expensive) work!)

2) I can never find "my stride"...it just doesn't happen.

3) I have a ridiculously short attention span so I tend to get bored just doing the same thing for too long.

Despite all this I have always envied those people who just "love" to run. How can you actually LOVE something like that? But the fact of the matter is these freaks of nature always have some kick butt bodies and THAT is what I want.

Let me just give you a very real idea of what I'm facing at the moment.

one word.....

DEPENDIPOTIMUSES

or is it dependipotimi?

either way it is: dependant+hippopotimus=dependipotimus

basically these individuals are a specific breed of army wife. They wear bits and pieces of their husband uniform to the commissary (PT shirts, ACU fleece jackets, etc.), they have kids back to back while continuously gaining baby weight upon baby weight, they refuse to wear bras, they still use the dreaded hair scrunchy.

I can not turn into one of these women.

I'll be honest, I am not the size 4 I once was in high school. I have gone through many phases that all glorify weight gain.
The Freshman 15
The Sophomore Beer Gut (it happens when you party a lot apparently)
The Happily Married Weight
The "I'm comfortable and in love" Weight (ok, so I made that one up)

Either way, my life is quickly approaching the years of Baby Weight gain and I am scared to death!

What I'm trying to tell you all (in the most long winded way possible) is that I have got to get it together! I have to start working out now so that I can work out both during and after pregnancy. And I have to learn to like running. I just have to. So you all have to root me on and I will keep you posted. My goal at this point is to run a 5k without walking. At this point I can run 2:30 straight....as in 2 minutes and 30 seconds. I guess that's progress.

So here's to losing the baby weight before I even have a twinkle in my eye! Talk about prior planning! It's amazing what being surrounded by mothers all the time will do to a college girl.

Please send help :)

XOXO

The Real Army Wives

Before I married into this military world I was under the impression that my life would be EXACTLY like the Lifetime series, Army Wives. I would spend my days hanging out with the post commander's wife, running errands with a generals wife, frequenting the FRG meetings, and volunteering at various moral boosting functions.

Not the case.

The real Army Wife Life consists of endless amounts of ACU (Army Combat Uniform, for you normal people) colored laundry, trying to find things to fill your time while your husband is working 15 hr days, finding friends that aren't talking about you while your back is turned, and getting excited over things like pomegranate scented dish soap and new vacuum cleaners.

It seems that over night I worry about piles of laundry instead of dance team performances. What happened here?!

Where are my stylish Claudia Joy outfits, reminiscent of the J. Crew catalogue? What about the spitfire Special Forces wife whose supposed to be my bestie??

Why has Army Wives led me astray??

The truth is, a post commander's wife would never be friends with a new privates wife. And a Special Forces wife wouldn't necessarily be hanging out with a general's wife. And they sure as heck wouldn't be hanging out in
a beautifully decorated gazebo outside of the post commander's house. At least that is my experience thus far.

On the bright side, it is possible to find some pretty awesome friends who are crazy, ACU purse toting, PT shirt wearing, crazies. And that, my friends, in a very good thing.

I am so blessed to have found the friends that I have here, without them I may have been found at the bottom of a laundry pile by now.

Thanks ladies!

So the lesson here is pretty straight forward, don't believe everything you see on TV (duh!)

BTW: The new season of Army Wives premiers on March 6th (just saying)

Until tomorrow-

Where did my college stomach go?

I recall the early days of college, when my alcohol consumption was plenty and my worries were few.

Today I awoke with a red wine headache and some horrible guilt relating to the copious amounts of Jack in the Box I drunkenly consumed last night after a seemingly innocent girl date. One of my fellow army wives and I shared a bottle of wine and a new episode of Grey's Anatomy and next thing I know I'm on the heavier end of tipsy, trying to maneuver down some snow covered steps to my husband's car. It was not a pretty sight.

After realizing I was a teensy bit inebriated, my husband, the junk food connoisseur that he is, suggested a run through the Jack in the Box drive through. Where did it all go wrong??

Let me remind you all that six months ago this scene was an every weekend occurrence. Not only that, but after way more alcohol (from many different countries of origin) I was able to bounce right back, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, the very next morning.

I ask you this my friends:

Where did my college stomach go??

From the comfort of my bed,
Tiffany

Nick Jr.

Nick Jr., Sprout, and Disney Junior have taken over my life.

At this point I know way more about Yo Gabba Gabba, Olivia, and Little Bear than I care to admit.

I can give full credit of this recent development to my dear friends Krystal and Crystal and their children. Their TVs are always tuned in to one of these networks and even though I don't have any particular interest in these shows, I can't help but watch!

This brings me to today's news. I just finished watching an episode of Yo Gabba Gabba where their guest star was Jack Black! If you are a parent you probably have seen this episode a million times (kids' channels love reruns) but to a pair of fresh eyes this episode was hilarious!!

Jack Black was looking portly as usual and sporting longish hair with highlights! About half way through the show during a song about friends, Jack switches to an orange jumpsuit and a orange shag cap then breaks out in dance. It is out. of. control.

The show wraps with a song with lesson teaching lyrics:

"you can't always get what you want, no matter how many times you ask"

Love it!

Seriously YouTube "Jack Black Yo Gabba Gabba". It will make your day.

Until then, I have an episode of Dinosaur Dan to get to :)

Germany Bound! (kind of)

Big news everyone!!

We (might) be headed to Germany! (someday)

Not as exciting as you may have originally hoped but I assure you this is BIG NEWS!

Since the Mr. and I got married (a whole 4 months ago) I have been trying to convince him to go abroad.

When I was an average college student I had BIG PLANS to travel abroad and I told myself that getting married didn't necessarily kill those dreams, I just had to find a different way to make it happen. I think the Army is the perfect avenue. Travel the world, live abroad, and all on the Army's dime :)

My Mr, however, has never been very keen on the idea. Washington is the first place he's really gone other than Georgia so he thinks this place is the bee's knee's. If he had it his way we would live and die here....I do not agree.

But my friends, we had a breakthrough!!

A few nights ago we were discussing the possibility of reenlsitments and our future with or without the Army and Mr. said (all on his own), "if we reenlist, we will reenlist for Germany"(!!!!)

This is HUGE.

He usually hates the idea of traveling anywhere.

But WE WILL (or will not) be living in GERMANY!!! (maybe)

I never thought I'd be so happy to hear the word "maybe"

We are making progress people! :D

In other news: today it is snowing :)

Baby Steps

Ok so I started a blog an never wrote in it again. Predictable I know.

However, in an attempt to redeem myself I downloaded a blog editing app for my new iPhone so maybe just maybe I can continuously update this site and write about my (relatively) new life here in Washington.

fingers crossed.

Here's to a fresh start! :)
